Job Summary

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
  2. Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher;
  3. Previous leadership experience in curriculum preferred;
  4. Valid Texas Administrator/Principal or Counseling certification
  5. Demonstrated:
    • Commitment to life-long learning that supports high-quality first-time instruction including the use of technology;
    • Ability to develop and write curriculum;
    • Ability to lead professional learning;
    • Ability to manage data;
  6. Demonstrated skill in leading motivating and cooperating with others.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 220 days

SALARY:

$76684 (IA 4)

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Coordinate and facilitate all aspects of College Academy at all comprehensive high schools.
  2. Serve as a primary liaison between Office of Advanced Academics and campus administration regarding College Academy communication and procedures.
  3. Collaborate with Lone Star College for College Academy dual credit courses.
  4. Review revise and update Personal Academic and Career Exploration (PACE) course curriculum as needed for College Academy and train teachers who teach these special sections.
  5. Lead the districts effort to continue and expand College Academy to all high schools.
  6. Collaborate with grant office to find funding sources to support College Academy materials tuitions fees and teacher training.
  7. Identify and utilize research-based strategies to support students and increase the participation of under-represented student groups in College Academy.
  8. Identify tools and provide resources that support academic success and college readiness (TSIA2 PSAT SAT ACT etc.) so that students are ready to take dual credit courses.
  9. Maintain high levels of collaboration with curriculum staff counselors and other departments to ensure that all students receive information applications and support regarding College Academy opportunities.
  10. Facilitate College Academy parent informational meetings.
  11. Collaborate with and support campus-based College Academy Advisors through training meetings data review and progress monitoring.
  12. Establish and monitor student progress data to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and the supports offered to students.
  13. Facilitate middle and high school collaboration supporting students transition to College Academy in high school.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Advanced Academics
  15. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
