On behalf of a Financial company we are seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant who will take ownership of core accounting operations ensure full compliance with Cyprus financial and tax regulations and provide strategic financial insights to support business growth. This role requires strong technical expertise leadership capabilities and hands-on experience with financial systems and regulatory reporting within Cyprus.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Manage and oversee the full accounting cycle including general ledger accounts payable accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
Regulatory & Tax Compliance (Cyprus)
- Oversee VAT preparation and submission through the Cyprus Tax Department portal (TaxisNet).
- Manage Corporate Income Tax calculations and filings in compliance with Cyprus tax legislation.
- Coordinate payroll oversight social insurance contributions and related statutory requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors tax advisors and regulatory authorities as required.
Financial Control & Process Improvement
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the finance function.
- Support the implementation and optimization of ERP/accounting systems.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with management.
- Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights into financial performance.
- Prepare management reports and KPIs to support strategic decision-making.
Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff if applicable.
- Work closely with operations compliance and senior management to support business objectives.
- Act as a key finance point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- Professional qualification (ACCA ACA CPA or partly qualified) will be considered a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience preferably within fintech financial services or a regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of Cyprus VAT corporate tax and local compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing financial statements under IFRS.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage SAP or similar ERP systems).
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Greek is an advantage).
- Based in Cyprus or eligible to work in Cyprus.
