Staff Software Engineer – Platform Engineering (Machine Identity Security) hybrid

Job Summary
CyberArk is seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our Machine Identity Security team focused on backend systems and platform this role you will lead the design and evolution of scalable backend services that support certificate lifecycle management and secure machine identity at scale.
You will operate at a systems level driving architecture and building platform capabilities that enable high-scale distributed and reliable cloud services across the Machine Identity Security platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and architecture of backend services and platform capabilities for the Machine Identity Security platform
- Design develop and operate scalable backend services and APIs using Golang (preferred) and/or Java
- Build and evolve platform integrations and tooling that support extensibility including APIs SDKs and system-to-system integrations
- Drive the design of distributed systems that support high-scale multi-tenant and highly reliable platform operations
- Influence platform architecture and contribute to long-term technical strategy across services and teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across distributed systems often spanning multiple services
- Lead improvements to development practices CI/CD pipelines automation and overall engineering efficiency
- Mentor engineers and contribute to raising the engineering bar across the team
- Participate in and help evolve the on-call process to ensure platform reliability and performance

Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
- 10 years of professional experience in software development
- Strong experience building scalable backend services and APIs in cloud-native environments
- Proficiency in Golang (preferred) or strong experience in Java with willingness to work in Go
- Deep experience designing and building distributed systems at scale
- Experience with platform integrations APIs SDKs and service-to-service architectures
- Strong understanding of system design performance optimization and scalability patterns
- Hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Experience improving observability monitoring CI/CD and operational excellence
- Familiarity with identity authentication or security systems (SAML OAuth etc.); PKI/x509 is a plus but not required
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence across teams
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment
- This role requires the application of specialized knowledge in software engineering distributed systems and cloud computing typically obtained through a bachelors degree in a related technical field

The salary range for this position is $180000 $220000/year plus discretionary bonus which will be based on the employees performance and equity. Base pay may also vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical dental vision financial and other benefits.
