PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 29000 - 36000 (plus London Weighing of 5441) depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The mission of the BBC Concert Orchestra is to bring inspiring musical experiences to everyone everywhere with the ensembles versatility as the key.
The Orchestra explores a wide selection of classical and contemporary music and is broadcast weekly on BBC Radio 3s Friday Night Is Music Night. It appears regularly at the BBC Proms at Londons Southbank Centre and in Alexandra Palace Theatre where it is Associate Orchestra. It has a partnership with the University of Nottingham Nottingham Trent University and Nottingham Royal Concert Hall. The BBC CO has close relationships with its Chief Conductor Anna-Maria Helsing Principal Guest Conductor and Curator Edwin Outwater Associate Conductor Jérôme Kuhn and Conductor Laureate Barry Wordsworth.
Soundtrack recordings include Blue Planet and Call the Midwife for BBC One and Isobel Waller-Bridges score The for Charlie Mackesys Oscar-winning film The Boy The Mole The Fox and The Horse as well as new music for BBC Sounds Music & Meditation podcast.
Its performances for BBC Radio 2s Piano Room Month have featured collaborations with pop artists including Olivia Dean Robbie Williams and Paul Weller.
The BBC CO offers enjoyable and innovative education and community activities and is involved in BBC Ten Pieces the BBC Young Composer competition and the BBC Open Music programme.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
We are looking for the person who can help plan and co-ordinate the detailed logistics of BBC COs work with particular responsibility for tasks relating to the broadcast element through to the running of that activity for live audiences and broadcast. They will achieve this through the BBC Values and building trusting close and respectful relationships across a wide range of internal colleagues and external partners.
The Assistant Producer reports to the Head of Artistic Planning and is a core member of the Concerts & Planning Team working alongside the Concerts & Planning Co-ordinator.
Due to the nature of the role the Assistant Producer will be required to work evenings and weekends and sometimes travel across the UK as dictated by the Orchestras performance schedule.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- To embody and demonstrate the BBC Values Audiences Creativity Trust Respect Accountability and One BBC across the role.
- To work closely with internal teams (including Production Business Affairs Music Library R3 and BBC TV) artists and agents and external stakeholders (venues publishers instrument hire etc.).
- To project manage allocated events including concerts recordings and broadcasts ensuring all logistical and production elements are delivered smoothly.
- To assist the Radio 3 Producer with broadcast-related tasks including updating systems like Proteus and booking Technical Producers and Outside Broadcasts (OBs).
- To create and maintain essential project summary documents update the orchestras diary in OPAS and produce monthly schedules.
- To act as Concert Manager for assigned events ensure smooth running concerts and coordinating with broadcast teams to ensure seamless execution.
- To support budget management for each project including raising purchase and sales orders and processing artist requisitions.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- In-depth knowledge of how orchestras work
- Experience of working on live music events
- Strong organisational skills and good diary managment with a good eye for detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people
- Good knowledge of general office IT packages and confident in learning how to use new software.
