Job Summary
Primary Purpose Of Position
Cleans the interior and exterior of buildings using the appropriate cleaning solutions. Operates standard commercial housekeeping machinery and services equipment to keep it functioning properly and efficiently. Perform DAILY housekeeping tasks: Sweep dust mop or vacuum all floors damp mop to remove spots and spills. Remove scuff and skid marks Empty trashcans and ash urns Replace burned out light bulbs and fluorescent tubes Clean and sanitize restrooms: Sweep dust mop and spot mop floors Clean sinks mirrors paper towel and soap dispensers Empty sanitary napkin dispensers Check and refill paper towel soap and tissue dispensers; recheck and re-supply before leaving each day Sweep stairs and landings and dust railings Clean glass surfaces Clean 15 feet outward around building entrance ways (to include snow removal and salt application) Spot wash walls to remove graffiti Polish stainless steel surfaces Report any repair work that employee can detect Clean water fountains RECYCLE : Inspect trash for recyclables; sort and place in appropriate containers avoiding contamination; take to designated location inside/outside of building for pickup by sanitation truck operator Perform WEEKLY Housekeeping tasks: Clean janitors closet and equipment Dust vents and Venetian blinds Dust all office areas conference rooms to include file cabinets desks tables and bookcases Clean tables chairs and dust upholstered furniture including underneath pillows and cushions Dust window sills to the screens Dust all fixtures to include moldings picture frames and other wall hangings Check inventory level and order supplies as needed through the Zone Manager Perform PROJECT WORK scheduled by supervisor: Strip wax and buff floors Shampoo carpet Wash Venetian blinds windows and light fixtures Clean tile and grout in restrooms Remove graffiti from all surfaces Work special events Work overtime Work in other buildings as requested.
Duties
Recognizes and follows label directions to properly mix cleaning chemicals. Attends safety meetings. Wears proper personal protective equipment. Practices safe operating procedures with equipment and chemicals around people
Preferred Years Experience Skills Training Education
A high school diploma or GED and some janitorial service experience. Ability to: follow oral and written instructions; write legibly and deal effectively with the public sector; practice safe handling of cleaning agents with chemicals cleaning equipment storage and use of materials; complete tasks in a cooperative manner; work with the staff in maintaining a healthy environment and use good housekeeping techniques. Physically able to perform cleaning operations that require continuous walking reaching bending stooping stair climbing.
