Summary of Position
The Department of Surgery Division of Cardiovascular Surgery at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is seeking a BE/BC cardiothoracic surgeon for the role of advanced fellowship for thoracic transplant mechanical circulatory support and adult cardiac surgery with attending surgeons privileges.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Participate in heart and lung organ procurement and implantation including the screening selection and follow up on cardiothoracic patients.
Examine diagnose and surgically treat patients with end-stage cardiopulmonary diseases and cardiovascular patients.
Participate in the management of patients in the ICU Floor and Clinic in heart/lung transplantation service and cardiovascular surgery service and provide surgical treatments such as tracheostomy re-exploration of the chest ECMO etc. as needed.
Must have ownership of patients outcomes Morbidity and Mortality defined by STS and SRTR.
Assist and/or perform other cardiac surgeries as assigned by the Division Chief.
You are expected to participate in adult cardiac call aortic call thoracic transplant call and shock/VAD call.
Clinical responsibilities and call schedule are directly guided by the Chief of the Division. Services will be rendered at any location serviced by the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery including all established and future campuses and partner sites.

Candidates must possess an M.D. or D.O with Board Certification/Eligibility by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or foreign equivalent; eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required. Lastly applicants will have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal organizational and problem-solving skills and strong commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
