The USF College of Nursing is seeking a full-time non-tenure-track Instructor I to join its clinical/teaching faculty. The primary focus is undergraduate instruction with responsibilities that may include graduate-level teaching mentoring students serving on committees participating in community engagement and acting as a liaison with clinical sites (which may require travel).



Responsibilities

Teaching may occur across USFs three campuses: Tampa St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee. Faculty are also expected to contribute to curriculum development service and scholarly activities appropriate to the rank of Instructor I.

In-person presence during standard business hours is required. Remote work option is not available for this position.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
  • Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree.
    Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate ( is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
    SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
    A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:
    (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
    (c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;
    (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
    (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
    Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
    Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold or be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Florida by the start date.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment at the rank of Instructor I (non-tenure earning).
  • Minimum of two years of direct patient care clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing (DNP or PhD).
  • Minimum of three years of classroom and clinical teaching experience.
  • A broad range of clinical knowledge and expertise in various settings or specialty areas.
  • Local state or national leadership in a nursing professional organization.
  • Strong communication and technology skills and experience in curriculum design and evaluation of program outcomes.
