We are seeking a Senior Budget/Financial Analyst to join our team. This role will involve overseeing budget operations performing value-added financial analysis managing federal grant reporting and providing strategic financial guidance to internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial analysis budgeting financial reporting and data-driven decision-making along with a strong ability to identify trends and improve financial processes.

Duration: 9 Months Contract (with possible extension)
Job Description:

The Senior Budget/Financial Analyst will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing budgets supporting procurement-related financial activities and providing high-level financial consultative services to the organization. This role focuses on ensuring financial accuracy supporting grant reporting identifying trends and recommending process improvements.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Economics Public Administration or a related field
  • 8 years of experience in financial analysis budgeting or financial management
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting principles accounting practices and financial reporting
  • Experience analyzing financial data to identify trends and evaluate program costs
  • Experience identifying inefficiencies and recommending cost-saving measures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools especially Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Accounting Finance Public Administration Economics or a related field
  • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) CPA or Certified Budget Analyst (CBA)
  • Experience working with financial systems such as PeopleSoft Financials
  • Knowledge of state and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements
  • Experience working with large data sets and advanced analytical techniques
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for budget-related matters and provide financial guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Review and monitor assigned budgets to ensure spending remains within approved limits
  • Analyze expense trends and perform value-added financial analysis to support decision-making
  • Manage federal grant funds and prepare required financial reports (including federal reporting requirements)
  • Reconcile federal projects and submit monthly cash draw requests
  • Assist in developing grant applications and maintaining project budgets
  • Support the maintenance of financial data and funding sources in financial systems such as PeopleSoft
  • Review reimbursement requests and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Track personnel changes and prepare budget impact statements
  • Approve financial transactions including procurement-related expenses and personnel-related financial updates
  • Analyze financial and HR data to ensure accuracy compliance and proper general ledger postings
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend cost-saving strategies and process improvements
  • Provide data-driven insights and financial reports to senior leadership
  • Respond to routine and complex budget-related inquiries from stakeholders
