UMS Recapture Summer Program Coordinator
TITLE: SGC AVID for All! (Summer Transition) Coordinator
LOCATION: Urbana Sixth Grade Center
SUPERVISOR: Program Director and Building Admin Team
SUPERVISES: Teachers Support Staff and Students
PROGRAM DATES: August 3rd - August 7th 2026 (5 days)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:
- Lead staff to prepare creative and engaging enrichment activities.
- Implement non-digital lessons in a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that assists students assigned to the classroom with achieving specific educational goals.
- Work with staff to create classroom environments that are welcoming to all students.
- Collaborate with staff assigned to the classroom to develop general classroom procedures goals schedules behavioral expectations and classroom activities for students.
- Plan and implement activities inside and outside of the classroom that expose a child to a variety of learning experiences and broaden the childs perspective.
- Take daily attendance and complete other required documentation as assigned.
- Review develop and requisition materials for the classrooms.
- Work in partnership with the staff to plan and encourage family involvement in the education of their children.
- Supervise students as assigned by the Principal and/or program director.
- Perform any and all additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or Building Administration.
- Take an active role in scheduling onsite schedules and field trips including completion of bus request forms
- Maintain and reconcile budget related documentation and report information to the administrative team in a timely manner. Manage program logistics (assign rooms manage materials and resources) meet deadlines follow protocol (allergies medication fieldtrips student safety) complete required reports and provide required documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Masters degree in Education or a related field preferred
- Type 75 desired
- Bilingual preferred
- Internal applicants only
EXPERIENCE
- Experience with coordinating programs
- Experience in the field of Education
- Experience working with community organizations
- Experience with social and emotional learning and strategies
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Positive leadership skills
- Willingness and ability to plan design and implement the program
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Hourly pay rate ($42/hour) when program begins planning stipend in advance of program
- Additional planning and preparation required prior to program start-up.
START DATE: Orientation TBD prior to start of program
NOTE: This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position. Position contingent on grant funding.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
