We are currently hiring for a spotter driver to move trailers around the company premises to stage for loading and unloading.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Employee must pass a fitness for duty test drug screen and submit to a TB test on a post offer employment physical.
- Employee must pass a DOT medical exam DOT drug and alcohol tests.
- Stage trailers to be loaded/off-loaded.
- Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition before during and after trips and submit a written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip.
- Requires drivers to be able to bend stoop kneel pull push and lift all types of hoses equipment and tools required to do the job weighing up to fifty pounds or more. Also drivers must be able to climb ladders to check holding tanks on equipment.
- Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment.
- Maintain electronic records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including drivers record of duty status mileage records and other records required by law.
- Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and comply with all federal state and local regulations for the safe operations of a commercial motor vehicle.
- Cover shifts for alternate spotters in times of absences/vacation.
- Follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Must have the ability to read and write English language proficiently to comply with FMCSA guidelines.
- Must be able to pass a company road test.
- Perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Must have the ability to handle receipts read maps road signs maintain records of duty status etc.
- Must have knowledge of FMCSA regulations governing safe driving hours of service inspection and maintenance.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma preferred but not required.
- Must possess a valid Commercial Class A drivers license with tanker and hazmat endorsements.
- Must have a clear Motor Vehicle Report.
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) for port access.
- Must meet or exceed the medical standards of the US Department of Transportation.
- Must have two years of verifiable driving experience with Class A license.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit and remain alert while driving for an aggregate period of up to 11 hours.
- Must be able to pull fifty (50) feet of fully charged hose sometimes weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be able to maneuver fuel hoses in around and through all types of obstacles and equipment.
- Must be able to drive a truck with a manual shift transmission and operate foot pedals when required.
- Must be able to enter and exit the truck cab up to 24 times a day. Cab floor level is generally from 36 to 66 inches above ground level with entry and exit achieved with the assistance of various configurations of steps and hand-holds; also requires occasional bending climbing squatting and balancing.
- Must be able to occasionally reach above shoulder level; bend at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck.
- Must be able to climb ladders located on units and customer locations. Must be able to climb on all types of equipment at loading and delivery sites as required with a fully charged hose.
- Drivers may spend up to 50% of time out of doors exposed to potentially difficult environmental conditions.
- Drivers may be subject to irregular work schedules (including weekend work) temperature weather and outside environment extremes long trips short notice for assignment of a trip tight delivery schedules delays in route and other stresses and fatigues related to driving a large commercial motor vehicle on crowded streets and highways in all kinds of weather.
Work Schedule
- Monday - Friday 1st shift (or as business needs dictate)
- Overtime is mandatory from time to time based on business need.
Earning Potential
- $20.00 an hour for NON-CDL license holders
- $22.00 an hour for CDL license holders.
