The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) Division of Business and Finance (DBF) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Statewide Accountant 2 to join our this critical role you will serve as the primary liaison between the General Accounting Office (GAO) and various state agencies providing expert guidance on the AZ360 Financial system statewide accounting policies and procedures and the fiscal year-end close process. You will be responsible for complex accounting tasks including reviewing and recommending approval of data policy changes and system enhancements. As this is a highly customer service oriented position much of your time will be spent on the phone. This position requires a strong understanding of GAAP GAAS and GASB principles as well as the ability to analyze complex financial information and solve unique accounting challenges. | Job Duties: |
- Serves as the primary point of contact as an AZ360 Financial Operations liaison between the General Accounting Office (GAO) and the state agencies boards and commissions
- Responds to functional questions from agencies boards and commissions which include but are not limited to inquires from OSPB and JLBC by providing guidance and/or research necessary to resolve problems or situations defined by the requestor
- Performs assigned operational tasks which pertains to the Automated Warrant Reconciliation (AWR) unit or the Vendor & 1099 Reporting unit within the AZ360 Financial Operations Group
- Performs complex assignments mandated by statute which may include: reviewing subordinate or other statewide accounting policies and procedures
- Works on system fixes and enhancements for improvements to the development and testing of the AZ360 Financial system
- Makes recommendations for improvement applying knowledge and skills of own technical specialty

Knowledge of:
- Principles concepts practices methods and techniques of government accounting audit methodologies internal control structures accountability and fiscal management
- Reference materials such as Arizona Revised Statutes applicable agency manuals including the Department of Administration General Accounting Office Statewide Accounting and System manuals
- Methodologies spreadsheet techniques statistical sampling quality assurance and final technical report referencing
- Methods and techniques of development of data processing relating to large financial systems
- Customer service etiquette

- Requires Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field with required accounting credit hours Background and reference check including a criminal records verification
