Director of Executive Communications

Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to direct and manage the Chancellors comprehensive executive communications portfolio including written digital and media-facing communications. The Director provides strategic counsel prepares executive messaging oversees the Chancellors public and digital presence and coordinates media engagement in partnership with University Relations.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in communications journalism public relations English or a related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in executive communications speechwriting media relations or strategic communications. Demonstrated experience directly supporting senior executive leadership in a complex organization. Exceptional writing editing and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex institutional issues into clear and compelling messaging.
Preferred Years Experience Skills Training Education
Masters degree in a related field preferred. Experience in higher education government or similarly complex institutions strongly desired. Demonstrated political acumen discretion and executive-level judgment. Experience serving as a principal speechwriter for a president chancellor CEO or comparable executive. Experience managing executive social media presence and media engagement.
