Job Summary
Summary
This position performs all marine surveys vessel cargo inspections as well as LPG and petroleum inspections on cargoes and tankers. The Inspector performs quantity determination inspections of ships barges and pipeline transfers of LPG petroleum petrochemical and chemical products.
Job Functions
- Physically sample measure and take the temperature of vessels tanks and shore tanks using a variety of methods dictated by company and ASTM / API procedures.
- Calculate and certify quantities transferred and perform full reconciliation of those quantities.
- Accurately complete all required reports and forms. Issue job order confirmations and all required forms reports and documents
- Work constructively with clients representatives vessel personnel and shore facility personnel to insure accurate results.
- Maintain regular communication with office staff with reference to job status problems concerns etc.
- Stay current with and adhere to the latest industry and client procedures and standards as provided by field supervisors and/or office staff.
- Ensures work practices are carried out according to established methods that meet all Quality Control standards and best practices where this is required or appropriate.
- Always work in a safe manner and according to company and terminal procedures.
- Candidates will be required to work evenings weekends and holidays.
- Will also be required to work on-call occasionally.
- Will be required to travel to customers facilities and carry out their job duties.
- Will be required to maintain frequent communication with clients and port agents
- May be assigned and coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.
- Will be required to assist lab operation as needed
- Performing LPG and Petroleum Cargo Inspections for condition quality and quantity on board Tankers
- Performing LPG and Petroleum Cargo Inspections for condition quality and quantity in shore tanks
- Performing Tank Inspections for cleanliness suitability and condition
Qualifications :
Education and Experience
- High School or equivalent (Required)
- 4 years of transferrable industry experience (Required)
- Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Drivers License (Required)
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) (Preferred)
- Must maintain valid Drivers License and TWIC card once obtained through course of employment (Required)
- International Federation of Inspection Agencies (IFIA) Certification (Preferred)

- Continues to gain knowledge and expertise in the profession (Required)

- Has no discretion to vary from established procedures by performing structured work assignments (Required)
- Language Skills: English Basic level (Required)
- Mathematical Skills: Basic level of proficiency with a good understanding of fractions and decimals (Required)

- Communication Skills: Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and/or groups both within the organization or while representing the organization (Required)
- Flexibility: Must be flexible with ability to accept changes in instructions on short notice (Required)

- Must have a positive attitude and show eagerness to accomplish goals and achieve desired results while working independently or in a team setting (Required)
