Job Summary
The Laboratory Equipment Technician is responsible for routine maintenance upkeep and coordination of critical laboratory equipment. This role supports daily testing operations by ensuring instruments are clean functional and available for use while working closely with laboratory scientists to minimize disruptions.
This is a handson detailoriented position ideal for candidates with prior laboratory or equipment maintenance experience who enjoy supporting scientific teams in a fastpaced environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for routine laboratory equipment maintenance.
- Perform scheduled refilling of incubator water to ensure proper functionality.
- Coordinate and assist with annual disinfection of incubators and biosafety cabinets.
- Conduct monthly freezer deicing to maintain optimal performance.
- Coordinate and perform annual freezer defrosts.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff to schedule maintenance around active testing.
- Maintain organized documentation of maintenance activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs and availability.
Qualifications :
- No college degree required.
- High school diploma with 57 years of experience or Associates degree with 35 years of experience in an academic biotech or pharmaceutical laboratory environment.
- Handson experience performing laboratory equipment or instrument maintenance is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with crossfunctional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook).
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without sponsorship.
Additional Information :
The position is onsite full-time first shift Monday through Friday. Candidates must be flexible to adapt to schedule changes requiring shift changes and/or weekend work and overtime may be required as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Cambridge MA are encouraged to apply.
