Job Summary

Purpose:

The Parts Counterperson sells at retail parts to all available customers over the counter through the shop or on the phone.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts suggest companion requirements offer specials and ensure exposure to the full product line.
Pull purchases from stock determine availability and submit emergency orders as requested by customers.
Answer phone calls provide price quotes and information and assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
Set up orders for daily shipment delivery or pick up.
Verify will call and back order files weekly; return items to vendors or stock as appropriate and solicit assigned accounts by phone.
Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs and open repair order envelopes for new orders.
Order parts not in stock after discussion with Shop Foremen to ensure parts will be used upon receipt or customer will return for repairs.
Process all parts charges returns and credits ensuring proper documentation approvals and customer payments including cash accounts credit cards and tax-exempt sales.
Replenish assigned inventory daily and maintain clean organized counter areas; advise Parts Manager of departmental concerns.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures; immediately report any accidents to a manager or supervisor.

Qualifications :

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience in an automotive parts department.
One year of sales experience.
Ability to read comprehend and communicate information clearly.
Professional personal appearance and willingness to wear a dealership uniform.
Strong customer service skills with ability to manage multiple customers simultaneously.
Authorization to work in the USA and valid drivers license.
