Job Summary

Position Summary 

The Summer intern selected for this role will assist Philadelphia Historical Commission staff with drafting articles social media posts and other documentation related to the protection of the citys historic resources. The position requires strong research writing and editorial skills. Applicants should have experience doing research using paper and online resources. The ability for self-direction and completing assignments on schedule is important for this role. The intern will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the Historical Commissions role in protecting the citys historic resources and will be included in the public meeting process. 

The maximum number of hours allocated for this role is 20 hours per week for 10 weeks. Please submit a resume cover letter references and writing sample with your application. 

Essential Functions 

  • Writing articles 

  • Preparing social media posts 

  • Documenting information related to the protection of the citys historic resources 

  • Ability to self-direct and complete assignments on schedule  

Competencies Knowledge Skills and Abilities 

Knowledge of the field of historic preservation historic research and writing skills and curiosity about Philadelphias architecture and history.  


Qualifications :

Education:  

Applicants should be enrolled in a Graduate Level program in the field of Historic Preservation History or Art History. 

Experience: 

Applicants should have research experience using paper and online resources.
