Project Manager, Systems Track (Subways YNSE & SSE)
Job Summary
Our Capital Projects Group Subways division is seeking a Project Manager specific to Systems -Trackwork for the Subway Extensions (Scarborough Subway and Yonge North Subway) projects. The Project Manager will support managing all activities relating to the engineering design construction testing and commissioning for YNSE & SSE in a safe timely standardized and cost-effective manner for quality services.
Offices: 5650 Yonge Street in North York and 100 Consilium Place in Scarborough subject to change
What will I be doing
- Assist in managing theTrackworkof the subway extensions and their related interfaces throughout the project life cycle including design development phases and implementation phase.
- Assist in managing the construction testing and commissioning activities with Contractors as it relates toTrackwork of various track forms.
- Oversees the implementation of and compliance by Contractor with contractual requirements as they relateto Trackwork.
- Provides assistance in the evaluation/negotiation/resolution of contract changes and contractors claims.
- Reviews and approves the contractors schedule and updates with participation from the project team members as required.
- Participates on comment resolution meetings with consultants / contractor and SMEs to facilitate an early resolution of key issuesfor trackwork and related interfaces.
- Reports and escalates as required to the project leads on critical items found through the submittals review that may have a significant impact on the project scope budget or timelines.
- Supports the Manager in directing and leading the TA (Technical Advisor) Delivery Partner (DP)for the Progressive Design Build (PDB) Contract(s) and Alliance Contract(s) through all stages and phases of theSSE & YNSE Projects related matters as needed.
- Reviewing and evaluatingconsultant/contractors drawings studies reports design proposals specifications and contract documents to meet established policies procedures and standards.
- Reviews and assists with administration of consultant contracts during all stages of project development/ implementation including scope cost schedule and resource management; approves tasks sheets work plans progress reports and invoice payments; analyzes and manages performance monthly expenditures and budgetary constraints
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Completion of a degree in Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in project management
- Project Management experience managing/leading technical staff and/or managing complex projects preferably for passenger rail transit underground stations portals and related works.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification; Certified Engineering Technician (CET) or . designation or partial completion is an asset.
- Experience in various Track structures track materials specifications and construction.
- Knowledge of Design Bid Build (DBB) P3 and/or Progressive Design Build (PDB) Contract Administration is an asset.
- Experience in stakeholder management related to design or construction of subway transit systems.
- Knowledge of municipal TTC Metrolinx and other national or international rail and transit standards would be an asset.
- Experience in project management principles and practices including budget and schedule controls to assist in leading cross functional teams and consultants and monitor project activities for adherence to timelines budgets and project performance objectives.
- Knowledge of identification and evaluation of project risks and mitigations.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to monitor contractor performance and contract compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and contact terms and conditions and to proactively develop contingency.
- Knowledge of Contract Law the Occupational Health and Safety Act Environmental Assessment Act and railway infrastructure construction and construction practices.
- A valid Ontario G Drivers Licence is required for regular site visits.
- This position requires the successful candidate to be present at various designated onsite locations as assigned by their leader for a minimum of three (3) days each week.
