Upper School Teacher Librarian

The Episcopal Academy seeks a collaborative innovative and student-centered Upper School Teacher Librarian to advance a dynamic culture of inquiry literacy and research. This individual serves as a trusted partner to faculty and a visible presence for students designing and delivering meaningful learning experiences that integrate research information literacy and emerging technologies including AI across the curriculum.
The Teacher Librarian works closely with faculty across disciplines while contributing to the broader vision and daily life of the library. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives at the intersection of teaching and program development bringing creativity intellectual curiosity and a deep commitment to student learning. The successful candidate is energized by working with young people fluent in both traditional and evolving literacies and eager to help shape how students engage with information in a rapidly changing world.
What You Will Do
- Partner with faculty across disciplines to design and deliver embedded research and information literacy instruction.
- Lead the development and integration of AI literacy and emerging research practices across the Upper School.
- Teach students to evaluate sources navigate digital environments and use information ethically and effectively.
- Design and implement engaging library programming including author visits reading initiatives and community events.
- Provide research support readers advisory and academic technology assistance to students and faculty.
- Develop and manage the librarys print and digital collections to support curriculum and independent reading.
- Maintain library systems and platforms including databases website content and circulation tools.
- Collaborate on cross-divisional library initiatives and contribute to faculty professional development.
About You
The ideal candidate is an engaging educator and skilled collaborator who is passionate about fostering curiosity critical thinking and a love of reading. This individual brings expertise in research and information literacy along with an interest in emerging technologies and their role in education. The Teacher Librarian is equally comfortable teaching in the classroom partnering with colleagues and building programs that invite students into the life of the library. The successful candidate will possess:
- MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent advanced degree and experience.
- Demonstrated experience teaching research and information literacy skills.
- Strong collaboration communication and organizational skills.
- Enthusiasm for working with students and building an inclusive engaging library culture.
- Experience with or interest in AI digital literacy and emerging technologies in education.
- Background in History or English experience with archives or familiarity with library systems (e.g. Destiny) is preferred.
This is a full-time position based on our Newtown Square PA campus and includes two evenings per week supporting library access until 6:00 PM.
