St. Thomas Aquinas a faith-filled Catholic school community is seeking a passionate and organized School Librarian to serve students in grades K8. This individual will play a vital role in cultivating a love of reading supporting literacy development and fostering a welcoming library environment rooted in Catholic social justice values. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity promote lifelong learning and collaborate with staff to enrich the academic and spiritual growth of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and manage the school library collection including cataloging organizing and updating materials to meet the needs and interests of students and staff
Prepare maintain and document library budgets
Plan and teach engaging weekly library classes for students in grades K8 promoting literacy skills research habits and a love of reading
Guide students in selecting appropriate and meaningful reading materials
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support curriculum and integrate library resources into instruction
Coordinate and lead school-wide literacy events such as book fairs author visits and reading initiatives
Work closely with staff and volunteers to organize and execute library programs and events
Foster a welcoming inclusive and faith-centered library environment
Encourage responsible use of library resources and promote digital citizenship
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required; degree or certification in Library Science Education or a related field preferred
Experience working with children preferably in a school setting
Strong organizational communication and collaboration skills
Passion for childrens literature and literacy development
Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
Preferred Qualities:
Enthusiastic creative and student-centered approach
Ability to inspire a love of reading across a wide range of ages and abilities
Experience coordinating events and working with volunteers
