Description

Key Responsibilities

Technology Development

  • Supportnew fiber product introductions including specialty fibers and next-generation communications fibers.
  • Leadscale-up of new preform designs and materialsfrom development to full production.
  • Partner with R&D scientists and engineers to translatefiber innovations into manufacturable processes.

Process Ownership & Optimization

  • Own and optimizefiber draw tower processes for novel development projects including furnace thermal profiles draw tension control diameter control systems coating application and UV curing.
  • Optimize key performance metrics includingfiber attenuation geometry concentricity coating adhesion proof strength and yield.
  • Design and executeDesign of Experiments (DOE)to improve process robustness and product performance.
  • Leadroot cause investigationsand partner with equipment manufacturing and quality teams to drivecontinuous improvement

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate withmaterials science optics polymer chemistry equipment engineering and quality teams.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/MS/PhD inMaterials Science Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Applied Physics or related field.
  • 3 years of experiencein optical fiber manufacturing fiber draw process engineering or related high-precision thermal manufacturing.
  • Strongdata analysis troubleshooting and process optimizationskills
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree; or 3 years and a Masters degree; or a PhD without years experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience withdraw towers coating systems and fiber process control

Safety Requirements
