Job Summary

Overview

Location: Camp CONNRI (Ashford CT)

Status: Non-exempt Full-time (June-August) Casual (August - early May)

Hours Per Week: 40 (May - early August)

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 am 3:30 pm (includes two 15-minute paid breaks per day)

Scope of Position: Maintain the grounds and facilities of Camp CONNRI & Lodge to the highest standards ensuring that our campers and visitors have the best possible experience. Uphold a hygienic and clean environment by performing daily cleaning tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in reopening the youth camp in the spring including but not limited to cleaning cabins kitchens and other seasonal buildings.
  • Assist all groups and youth camps with their routine needs.
  • Assist in cleaning up blood or body fluids containing blood-borne pathogens.
  • Assist in closing the youth camp in the fall which includes securing buildings cleaning cabins and storing supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with all deliveries pick-ups and related activities.
  • Attend to the daily upkeep of assigned areas and equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Carry out janitorial duties including mopping dusting trash removal recycling washing windows painting vacuuming and general cleaning.
  • Ensure that buildings and property are secure during shifts and immediately report incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
  • Help with general cleaning and set-up in preparation for all programs and groups at Camp CONNRI & Lodge.
  • Help with the setup and teardown of programming events.
  • Maintain a mileage log for the use of the Camp Complex truck.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all job-related matters.
  • Operate motorized equipment used for cleaning and general maintenance.
  • Perform ground maintenance duties such as snow removal mowing and clearing trees and brush.
  • Record all necessary repairs report them to the supervisor and follow up with staff.
  • Undertake general building maintenance duties including but not limited to carpentry projects changing filters and light bulbs clearing plumbing clogs and repairing leaking faucets.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions procedures manuals and other documents.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of the equipment used for cleaning.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Must be able to manage time and have excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to participate often in relatively strenuous physical activity such as stacking chairs and moving tables and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must complete KeepSAfe and all required training upon hire.
  • Previous experience with carpentry plumbing construction or engineering is a

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe efficient use.
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record required.
  • Willingness to learn and share new and better methods of cleaning.
  • Must agree to abide by the Camps Personnel Policies and Practices as outlined in the Camp Staff Manual including the requirements that smoking drinking alcoholic beverages and using illegal drugs while on duty or camp property will be grounds for immediate dismissal.
