Job Summary
Overview
The MCGL Integrated Health Project implemented by Jhpiego seeks to strengthen communitysystems that promote improved maternal newborn and child health outcomes. Nutrition remains a critical component of these efforts particularly in addressing malnutrition among infants and young children and promoting optimal maternal nutrition practices.
Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) and Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) are key strategies for managing and preventing malnutrition at the community and facility levels. Effective implementation of these strategies requires continuous capacity strengthening of community actors and frontline health workers who are responsible for generating demand for nutrition services promoting appropriate feeding practices and facilitating early identification and referral of malnourished children to Outpatient Therapeutic Programme (OTP) and Stabilization Centre for treatment.
In addition demand generation for nutrition services plays a crucial role in improving uptake of the IMAM & MIYCN services as well as the micronutrient supplementation. Community-level actors must therefore be equipped with updated knowledge and practical skills to effectively engage mothers/caregivers promote optimal nutrition behaviors and support early care-seeking for nutrition services.
To strengthen these capacities Jhpiego seeks to engage qualified IMAM and MIYCN master trainers to conduct a two-day refresher training aimed at reinforcing key concepts and approaches for promoting IMAM and MIYCN demand generation activities at the community level.
Responsibilities
- Training Workplan and Detailed Agenda prior to the training.
- Adapted Training Materials and Facilitation Guides aligned with IMAM and MIYCN guidelines.
- Pre- and Post-Training Assessment Tools and Results demonstrating participant learning outcomes.
- Comprehensive Training Report within one week after the training including:
o Summary of training sessions
o Participant attendance
o Key outcomes and lessons learned
o Challenges encountered
o Recommendations for strengthening nutrition demand generation activities
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Public Health Nutrition Community Health or related field.
- Certification or recognized experience as an IMAM and/or MIYCN master trainer.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nutrition programming particularly in IMAM and MIYCN implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating training and capacity-building for community health workers or frontline health staff.
- Strong knowledge of community engagement and demand generation strategies for nutrition services.
Excellent facilitation communication and report-writing skills.
