One of Canadas Top 10 Research Hospitals Sunnybrook Research Institute is developing innovations in care for the more than 1.3 million patients the hospital cares for annually.
Sunnybrook Research Institute is the research enterprise of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Research spans three Toronto-based campuses eight programs and three scientific platforms. Our main aims are to understand and prevent disease and to develop treatments that enhance and extend life. Our vision is to invent the future of health care. Each year we conduct about $100 million in research across 500000 square feet including in the worlds first Centre for Research in Image-Guided Therapeutics.
The Leong Laboratory is home to an innovative patient derived xenograft Core facility that utilizes novel hosts for growing patient tumors for drug testing purposes. This Core facility is in search of a flexible and biology-focused researcher that can assist the Core facility in its mission towards utilizing this technology in the oncology clinic one day.
Summary of Duties:
- Successful completion of High School Bachelors Degree in Science completed or nearly completed is considered an asset
- 1 year experience in a wet bench laboratory
- Experience with autoclaving laboratory materials and sterilization of laboratory materials
- Strong interpersonal time management and organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated proficiency in cancer biology and/or embryology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research regulations and guidelines such as IACUC and TCPS 2 is an asset.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma at minimum
Bachelor of Science (in progress or completed) is an asset.
