Job Summary

The Chairholder will be provided protected time for research activities in accordance with departmental and program priorities. Appointment will include medical staff appointment by Nova Scotia Health. The appointment will include a continuing academic appointment in the Faculty of Medicine.

The Chair position is a 5-year limited term appointment with renewal for an additional 5-year term contingent on successful review in year 4 of the first term.

Qualifications :

The successful candidate will have demonstrated clinical and research interest and expertise in transplantation and a proven ability to develop lead and evaluate a clinical and pre-clinical translational research program. The candidate will be a clinician-scientist (MD FRCSC or FRCPC or equivalent) actively involved in clinical care of transplant patients with the capacity to grow transplantation research within the QEII Health Sciences Centre and support the MOTP in Atlantic Canada. An MSc or PhD is an asset. Demonstrated success in securing peer-reviewed external funding is expected. This recruitment is central to strengthening the quality productivity and impact of transplantation research and fostering collaboration across disciplines and institutions. Experience as a leader mentor and collaborator and evidence of productive partnerships regionally and nationally are important attributes.  The position can be held by someone with a surgical or non-surgical background.
