Job Summary
Key job responsibilities
- Conduct failure mode analysis (FMA) and root cause analysis on phased array PCBAs and systems to determine underlying causes of defects
- Specify procure and establish FMA test stations optimized for phased array PCBA troubleshooting on the production floor
- Communicate non-conformances to quality engineering teams and PCBA suppliers working collaboratively to implement corrective and preventive actions for recurring defects
- Write comprehensive technical specifications for troubleshooting procedures tailored to Amazon Leos satellite manufacturing requirements
- Assist in recruiting training and mentoring engineers and technicians on troubleshooting techniques failure analysis methodologies and debug equipment operation
- Lead defect triage sessions and track failure trends across production shifts to identify systemic issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives
About the team
As a FMA and HW Engineer at Amazon Leo you will be directly responsible for testing and qualifying next generation spacecraft PCBAs and conduct failure mode analysis on complex phased array systems. You will utilize innovative solutions and technology to solve difficult problems on a daily basis at both a systems and specialized level. You will be a critical lynchpin between the production development electrical RF supply chain and quality teams. You will provide vital manufacturability input to the design and antenna engineering teams for both new and existing hardware. Finally you will be responsible for standing up new processes equipment and assembly lines to support Amazon Leos build ramp making data-driven decisions at each step in the process.
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Experience using Linux demonstrating proficiency with associated tools or languages
- Experience with log analysis - ability to parse and interpret system logs error messages and debug output
- Experience testing hardware sub-components research and data analysis skills and/or Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout best practices
- Experience with high speed interfaces
- Masters degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Experience scripting for automation (e.g. Python Perl Ruby)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
