At Honeywell Mechanical Design Engineers are critical drivers of innovation and product excellence. As a Mechanical Design Engineer II within Honeywell Thermal Solutions you will leverage your engineering expertise to design develop and improve mechanical components and systems that power advanced thermal technologies. You will work in a dynamic environment where creativity problem-solving and collaboration are highly valued. This role offers the opportunity to influence product performance and reliability while contributing to sustainability and safety initiatives that have a global impact.

In this position you will support both sustaining engineering effortsaddressing manufacturing challenges customer returns and part changesand new product development by generating innovative ideas that push the boundaries of thermal solutions. Reporting to the Safety and Controls Engineering Manager you will collaborate closely with compliance engineers to ensure products meet regulatory standards and develop comprehensive test plans executed in partnership with lab technicians. Your work will directly support the advancement and success of Honeywells thermal product portfolio.



Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive innovation by generating and developing new product ideas that enhance thermal solutions and meet evolving market needs
  • Lead the creation of detailed test plans and collaborate with lab technicians to execute testing for product development validation and compliance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve complex engineering challenges related to product performance manufacturability and reliability
  • Partner with compliance engineers to ensure all products adhere to applicable regulatory and safety standards
  • Support sustaining engineering activities including troubleshooting manufacturing issues analyzing customer returns and implementing part changes
  • Prepare review and maintain clear and accurate technical documentation such as design specifications test reports and product data


Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Early-career candidates and new graduates are encouraged to apply; relevant internships co-ops capstone projects or hands-on academic experience may be considered in lieu of full-time industry experience
  • Foundational understanding of mechanical design principles materials and manufacturing processes
  • Experience supporting engineering projects through coursework internships co-ops or professional roles including exposure to product development or sustaining activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks learn quickly and contribute in a team-oriented fast-paced environment

WE VALUE

  • Prior industry experience in mechanical design product development sustaining engineering or manufacturing support
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Hands-on experience with CAD tools prototyping testing or design validation activities
  • Exposure to regulatory requirements compliance testing or industry standards related to thermal or electromechanical products
  • Demonstrated curiosity problem-solving mindset and passion for innovation and continuous improvement
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to take ownership of technical work from concept through implementation
  • Adaptability and willingness to grow technical expertise within a dynamic and evolving engineering environment
