Construction Safety Specialist (OCIP Project)

Project Type: Hospital Construction OCIP

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Specialist to support a large hospital construction project under an OCIP program. This role will focus on overseeing safety compliance for a major mechanical contractor with an emphasis on pipefitting operations.

Responsibilities

Implement and enforce site-specific safety programs in alignment with OSHA and OCIP requirements
Conduct daily site inspections audits and hazard assessments
Monitor mechanical and pipefitting activities to ensure safe work practices
Lead safety meetings toolbox talks and orientations
Investigate incidents near misses and ensure proper documentation/reporting
Coordinate with project management subcontractors and OCIP administrators
Maintain safety records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Qualifications

810 years of construction safety experience (hospital or large-scale projects preferred)
Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and OCIP programs
Experience overseeing mechanical contractors especially pipefitting operations
Ability to work collaboratively with field teams and management
Local candidate preferred

Certifications & Credentials

Bachelors Degree (preferred) or CHST (required if no degree)
OSHA 500 Certification
First Aid/CPR Certification (current)

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk climb and navigate active construction sites
Capable of standing for extended periods and accessing elevated or confined areas
Ability to wear required PPE at all times
Lift up to 2530 lbs as needed
