Construction Safety Specialist (OCIP Project)

Project Type: Hospital Construction OCIP

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Specialist to support a large hospital construction project under an OCIP program. This role will focus on overseeing safety compliance for a major mechanical contractor with an emphasis on pipefitting operations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce site-specific safety programs in alignment with OSHA and OCIP requirements
  • Conduct daily site inspections audits and hazard assessments
  • Monitor mechanical and pipefitting activities to ensure safe work practices
  • Lead safety meetings toolbox talks and orientations
  • Investigate incidents near misses and ensure proper documentation/reporting
  • Coordinate with project management subcontractors and OCIP administrators
  • Maintain safety records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Qualifications

  • 810 years of construction safety experience (hospital or large-scale projects preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and OCIP programs
  • Experience overseeing mechanical contractors especially pipefitting operations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with field teams and management
  • Local candidate preferred

Certifications & Credentials

  • Bachelors Degree (preferred) or CHST (required if no degree)
  • OSHA 500 Certification
  • First Aid/CPR Certification (current)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk climb and navigate active construction sites
  • Capable of standing for extended periods and accessing elevated or confined areas
  • Ability to wear required PPE at all times
  • Lift up to 2530 lbs as needed
