The Schaumburg Township District Library is looking to hire a part-time Library Associate in the Circulation and Branch Services Department position. The position is onsite and 20 hours/week. The hours are as follows and requires flexibility.
- Mondays 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Tuesdays 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Thursdays 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The schedule is based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed. The starting hourly rate is $20.51/hour to $24.62/hour based on skills and qualifications.

Position Summary:
The Library Associate is responsible for assisting with the Library’s Home Delivery service Deposit Libraries and Pop-Up Libraries at various locations throughout the community. The Programs & Outreach Assistant is also responsible for assisting with the organization and implementation of adult and all-ages programs for the Library and providing administrative support to the Circulation and Branch Services Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Library with the selection check-out delivery and rotation of library materials to deposit library sites senior living facilities and private residences in the community through in-person deliveries and deliveries by mail.
- Interface with the public by responding to calls to the Home Delivery phone line and e-mail address.
- Register residents for Home Delivery suggest materials and schedule the delivery of materials.
- Interact with patrons and provide Library services at Pop-Up Library events throughout the community.
- Responsible for representing the Library in a safe professional manner and with sound judgement without immediate nearby help or oversight from colleagues when in the community to make deliveries.
- Assist with maintaining Home Delivery statistics.
- Assist with organizing staffing and evaluating Library programs for adults and all ages that are offered both in-person and online via Zoom YouTube and other platforms.
- Perform administrative tasks for the Circulation and Branch Services Department including submitting check requests; entering information into the online events calendar software; scheduling upcoming program details in Zoom and YouTube; and sending/receiving Letters of Agreement W9 forms certificates of insurance and waivers.
- Assist with special projects and events under the direction of the Circulation Manager.
- Attend meetings and training as required or requested.
- Treat all patrons and employees fairly and with an open mind; maintain patron and employee confidentiality.
- Communicate clearly either in person on the telephone or in writing.
- Cope with the stress of the job and get along with coworkers.
- Provide professional courtesy to all patrons and staff members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
Associates degree (A.A.) from a two-year college; a Library Technical Assistant (LTA) degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of word processing spreadsheet and database applications is required. Familiarity with online meeting webinar and video platforms including Zoom and YouTube preferred. Familiarity with an ILS is preferred.
