About the Opportunity

The Assurance Product Team is responsible for delivering product capabilities across Compliance Data Protection Financial Crime Risk Actuarial and Internal Audit.

As a Business Analyst within this team you will play a critical role in translating regulatory requirements assurance controls and data-driven insights into well-defined product features and scalable workflow solutions.

This is a product-focused role not a project delivery role. You will operate within an Agile product environment working continuously with business stakeholders and technical teams to define epics write high-quality user stories articulate acceptance criteria and ensure delivered capabilities meet regulatory and control objectives.

The primary domain focus for this role is Compliance and Data Protection with increasing emphasis on workflow automation regulatory monitoring and data-driven assurance.

Core Responsibilities

Requirements Elicitation & Translation

• Engages with business stakeholders to comprehensively understand their requirements and translate these into effective tailored product solutions.

• Works directly with stakeholders across Compliance Data Protection Risk and related functions to understand business challenges and desired outcomes.

• Distils complex or ambiguous requirements into structured value-driven and actionable deliverables.

• Translates business and regulatory needs into clearly defined epics features and user stories with robust acceptance criteria.

• Ensures both business and technical teams have a shared and thorough understanding of requirements prior to build activities.

• Challenges assumptions constructively to ensure clarity feasibility and alignment to product objectives.

Product Lifecycle Ownership

• Takes full ownership of analysis tasks across the entire product lifecycle.

• Leads requirement gathering documentation and solution definition activities.

• Supports design discussions to ensure requirements are accurately reflected in proposed solutions.

• Remains accountable for requirements through development Unit Testing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and production deployment.

• Ensures traceability between initial requirements and delivered functionality.

• Supports post-release validation and continuous improvement activities.
  

Documentation & Backlog Management

• Ensures structured and high-quality documentation aligned to Agile product delivery standards.

• Produces clear and comprehensive documentation in the form of epics features and user stories.

• Maintains an organised and prioritised product backlog in partnership with the Product Owner.

• Ensures requirements include appropriate functional non-functional and data considerations.

• Proactively refines backlog items to ensure readiness for sprint planning and build.

• Participates in backlog refinement sessions to ensure alignment between business requirements and technical delivery.
  

Testing & Validation

• Partners closely with testing and business teams to ensure delivered functionality meets expectations.

• Collaborates with the test team to ensure requirements are accurately reflected in automated and manual test scripts.

• Ensures test cases align with defined acceptance criteria and business expectations.

• Assists business users during User Acceptance Testing (UAT) supporting issue resolution and clarification.

• Validates that solutions meet regulatory compliance and data integrity requirements prior to release.
  

Agile Delivery & Collaboration

• Actively contributes to iterative product delivery within an Agile framework.

• Participates in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning refinement reviews and retrospectives.

• Ensures ongoing alignment between business requirements and technical delivery throughout each development cycle.

• Works closely with engineers and data teams to clarify requirements and resolve queries during build.

• Supports effective communication across onshore and offshore resources to enable seamless delivery.
  

Knowledge Sharing & Subject Matter Development

• Develops deep understanding of Assurance product capabilities and contributes to team capability uplift.

• Works towards becoming a go-to expert within the analysis team for Assurance product requirements.

• Provides guidance and support to offshore or junior resources where appropriate.

• Ensures effective documentation and knowledge transfer across the team.

• Contributes to the ongoing development and maturity of the Assurance Product Team.
  

Key Skills and Experience

• Domain Knowledge: Strong experience in Insurance specifically within compliance.

Technical Skills:

• Experience working with Power BI to define reporting requirements and validate outputs against business expectations.

• Comfortable working with data held in cloud-based platforms (e.g. Snowflake) and collaborating with data engineering teams (SQL knowledge desirable but not essential).

• Experience using Azure DevOps (or similar tools) to manage epics features and user stories within an Agile environment.

• Ability to analyse and document business processes supporting process improvement and workflow optimisation.

• Proficient in Excel for data analysis validation and requirement support.
  

Desirable

• Experience with Pega or compliance workflow tooling.

• Experience supporting FCC (Financial Crime & Compliance) initiatives.

• Exposure to Azure DevOps

• Business Analysis certification (BCS/IIBA).

• Experience in an insurance operating model.
