A vacancy currently existsfor a full-time Head Start Preschool Assistant within the Head Start Program in the Division of Student Services of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This is a 190-day position working with preschoolers in West Chester PA.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• To assist the Child Development Specialist in planning and executing early childhood activities
• Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with adults and children
• Assist the teacher in carrying out the duties of caring for children

Qualifications:

• CDA or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Edcuationrequired within 2 years of hire
• Previous exprience working in a childcare/preschool setting strongly preferred
• Bilingual/Bicultural preferred
• Current (within one year) police child abuse & FBI Fingerprint clearances required upon hire
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)
• NSOR Clearance upon hire

*If hired without an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA employees must fulfill an educational requirement to obtain their CDA within 2 years of hire*

Salary Range:
PRJ Based on years of experience in a relevant position

The Head Startpay scale is broken down below for reference:

• 0 - 4yrs experience $17.91
• 5- 10yrs experience $19.01
• 11- 16yrs experience $20.14
• 17- 22yrs experience $21.25
• 23 - 28yrs experience $22.38
• 29 - 35 yrs experience $23.49

Schedule:
7.5 hoursper day (8 AM - 3:30 PM); 5 days per week; 190days a year
