5-Axis CNC Miller
Location: Abingdon Oxfordshire
Salary: Up to 45000 per annum

A leading precision engineering business operating at the forefront of advanced manufacturing supporting high-spec industries including aerospace medical nuclear semiconductor and scientific sectors.
The work is focused on low-volume high-complexity components manufactured to exceptionally tight tolerances within a modern well-equipped facility.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced 5-axis CNC Miller to join a skilled engineering team in Abingdon.
This is a technically demanding hands-on role working on complex high-precision components where quality accuracy and attention to detail are critical. You will be responsible for programming setting and operating CNC milling machines ensuring parts are delivered right first time.
Key Responsibilities
- Program set and operate 3 4 & 5-axis CNC milling machines
- Interpret complex technical engineering drawings and specifications
- Manufacture precision components to tight tolerances (20 microns)
- Create and document tooling setups processes and layout sheets
- Inspect and verify your own work using appropriate measuring equipment
- Work independently to meet production deadlines and quality standards
- Maintain a safe clean and organised working environment
- Support continuous improvement and contribute to process optimisation
- Assist in training or supporting other team members where required
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in CNC milling including 5-axis machining
- Strong programming and setting experience is essential
- Must be highly proficient with Heidenhain controls (Fanuc experience beneficial)
- Very strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Ability to confidently interpret complex engineering drawings
- Proven experience working in low-volume high-complexity precision engineering
- Experience with machines such as Doosan Matsuura or Mazak
- Ability to consistently produce work to tight tolerances (20µm)
- Competent in inspection techniques and quality documentation
