YOUR NEW ROLE:
Holstep Health seeks to employ an experienced Therapeutic Counsellor to join the Gamblers Help program to support individuals and affected others who are experiencing gambling related harm. The successful candidate will work from a holistic and person-centred approach supporting people with their recovery. They will also have knowledge of co-occurring presenting issues such as family violence alcohol and other drug related harms and mental health matters.
This role will primarily be based in co-locations in the North and North West of Melbourne and deliver both face-to-face and telehealth services.
Your motivation interpersonal skills and counselling expertise will see you excel in this role as you:
Provide comprehensive clinical assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with clients
Deliver a range of evidence-based counselling interventions appropriate to client needs
Engage in integrated collaborative care with clients other supports to ensure holistic service provision and care planning
Complete accurate and professional case notes in a timely manner.
YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The Gamblers Help Therapeutic Counsellor provides specialist evidence-based support for individuals families and affected others experiencing gambling harm. Counselling support may be short medium or long-term depending on client needs and also attends to other secondary presenting issues that may be contributing to arising from or impacted by gambling harm. Close working relationships and robust referral procedures between this role Gamblers Help Financial Counsellors and other treatment professionals are critical for the delivery of an integrated holistic person-centred approach that primarily aims to:
assist individuals families and affected others to manage gambling related harms
assist individuals to reduce or stabilise gambling behaviours
support individuals to maintain positive behaviour change post-treatment
build capacity of other health and support services to identify and respond to gambling-related harms.
The Gamblers Help Therapeutic Counsellor also supports and assists clients through the self-exclusion and self-exlusion revocation processes where relevant. Services are delivered both face-to-face and via telehealth.
Deliver evidence-based therapeutic counselling interventions to individuals groups couples and families to facilitate change processes in individuals experiencing gambling harm
Assess for monitor and manage clinical risk ongoing seeking appropriate supports as necessary
Provide treatment and support to individuals accessing self-exclusion or applying for self-exlusion revocation
Provide secondary consultation with other health clinicians as required including providing specialist input into care planning and coordination undertaken by other agencies to develop the capacity of other health professionals to deliver brief interventions to respond to gambling related harm
Engage in integrated collaborative care with clients other supports to ensure holistic service provision and care planning
Complete accurate and professional case notes in a timely manner (within 24 hours)
Consistently meet clinical targets and collect client related data for planning reporting and funding purposes
Deliver multi-modal services (face-to-face telehealth) as appropriate ensuring organisational security confidentiality and consent procedures are upheld.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Relevant tertiary qualifications (Counselling Social Work or similar)
Eligibility for membership/registration with one of the following: full graduate or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or Membership with Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) in the Clinical Academic or Provisional categories or Level 2 or higher membership of the Australian Counselling Association
Experience in counselling individuals couples families or groups
Addiction counselling experience (desirable)
Highly developed skills in person-centred care clinical and risk assessment safety planning and integrated treatment planning
Experience working therapeutically with individuals (and desirably couples families and groups) specifically in relation to addiction
Ability and experience delivering appropriate evidence-based therapeutic interventions to treat addiction and other secondary presentations and adapting these to both face-to-face and telehealth modes of service delivery
Highly developed skills in case note writing and accurate record-keeping
Demonstrated skills and experience in collaborative care and client advocacy
Demonstrated ability to contribute to a team culture that is collaborative supportive and grounded in continuous quality improvement
Demonstrated ability to manage a client case load and work to key performance indicators (KPIs)
