Job Summary

We are recruiting on behalf of our client within the mining/manufacturing space in Durban.

They are looking for an accountant who will report to the Financial Manager. You will support the financial decision-making information by preparing analysing and reporting financial data.

Key Responsibilities include:

Full accounting function (Management Accounting & Financial Accounting)
Prepare monthly reports (flash & management accounts)
Preparation of interim and year-end financial packs
Preparation of tax pack
Preparation of monthly general ledger reconciliations
Statutory Reporting
Maintain the general ledger (review allocations of payments and journal entries; creation of new general ledger accounts open & closing financial periods preparation of journals etc
Respond to financial inquiries by gathering analysing summarising and interpreting data
Debtors
Creditors
Budgeting & forecasting
Liaising with internal & external auditors
Other ad-hoc functions as required by the Financial Manager

Requirements

Minimum 3-year degree accounting; Post graduate accounting qualification or CA(SA) would be advantageous
3-5 years accounting experience
Knowledge of accounting practices and principles
Ability to draft financial statements and monthly reports from Trial Balance
Prepare variance analysis between planned and actual results
Knowledge of Income Tax and VAT legislation
Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel Word PowerPoint)
JDE or similar ERP system experience
Ability to analyse and interpret financial data
Numerical reasoning
Problem solving and judgment
Attention to detail whilst multitasking
Planning and prioritising
Confidentiality
Deadline driven
Ability to work independently
Ability to work under pressure
