Job Purpose:



The Head of Legal will lead and oversee the Groups legal function across all jurisdictions in which Q-Sourcing operates. The role ensures legal compliance manages legal risk and supports strategic business initiatives through effective legal structuring contracting and governance. The incumbent will be instrumental in navigating complex employment and commercial legal terrains ensuring that Q-Sourcing remains compliant protected and positioned for growth across its multi-country operations.

Key Performance Areas


Roles and responsibilities

1. Legal Advisory & Compliance Oversight


Interpret and apply legal frameworks relevant to employment operations and regulatory requirements across different jurisdictions.

Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise management on changes impacting the business.

Ensure group-wide legal compliance with applicable laws including labor tax corporate governance and data protection laws.


2. Contract Management & Negotiations


Draft review and negotiate a wide range of service contracts vendor agreements and employment contracts.

Standardize contract templates and enforce contract approval and risk mitigation processes across business units.

Implement systems to track key contract milestones obligations and renewal timelines.


3. Litigation & Dispute Management


Manage coordinate and oversee all active litigation and dispute matters involving the company.

Lead strategy and interface with external counsel to safeguard Q-Sourcings interests.

Actively work to reduce exposure to litigation through preventive legal advice and staff training.


4. Governance Policy & Risk Integration


Develop and update legal policies and procedures aligned with corporate governance and compliance objectives.

Collaborate with Risk HR and Finance departments to align legal practices with broader business objectives.

Support internal audit risk management and compliance monitoring initiatives.


5. Management of External Legal Service Providers


Select evaluate and manage relationships with external legal counsel across all jurisdictions.

Ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal services from all outsourced providers.

Maintain a database of legal service providers contracts and performance reviews.


6. Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement


Lead the Legal department and provide guidance to legal officers across countries.

Act as legal advisor to the CEO Board and senior leadership on corporate matters.

Represent the company in high-level regulatory discussions and negotiations.


7. Continuous Learning and

Innovation


Identify opportunities for improving processes and systems related to legal matters.


Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the manager occasionally.

A. Legal Risk Management & Compliance Oversight

Regulatory Compliance Incidents
KPI: Maintain zero instances of regulatory non-compliance including fines or penalties by ensuring timely policy updates and consistent legal oversight across all jurisdictions.
Impact: Strong compliance culture improved reputation with regulators and reduced legal risk exposure.
Contract Dispute Reduction
KPI: Reduce the number of contract-related disputes across the business by 25% annually through improved contract standardization staff training and risk screening.
Impact: Fewer legal conflicts improved operational efficiency and stronger client/vendor relationships.
External Legal Spend Efficiency
KPI: Optimize external legal costs while maintaining quality by implementing a performance review system for legal vendors and reducing spend by 10% year-over-year.
Impact: Cost-effective legal support and better accountability from external counsel.
Employment & Commercial Contract Turnaround
KPI: Review and finalize 90% of employment and high-value commercial contracts within 72 hours of submission.
Impact: Faster business execution improved compliance in people and commercial operations.


B. Governance Policies & Institutional Alignment

Group Legal Policy Implementation
KPI: Ensure 100% adoption of updated legal policies and templates across all countries within 3 months of issuance.
Impact: Standardized governance across jurisdictions reduced local compliance gaps.
Contract Risk Assessment Framework
KPI: Design and implement a risk scoring checklist for all major contracts within 6 months and reduce contract-related compliance issues by 20% annually.
Impact: Increased visibility of contract risk fewer overlooked exposures.
Audit and Litigation Closure Rate
KPI: Achieve closure on 90% of active legal disputes and internal audit legal findings within agreed timelines.
Impact: Improved legal housekeeping stronger control environment.


C. Strategic Legal Advisory & Support

Cross-Border Legal Support Responsiveness
KPI: Respond to 95% of internal legal advisory requests from subsidiaries within 48 hours including multi-jurisdictional support.
Impact: Faster decision-making improved confidence in legal team support.
Legal Risk Integration in Business Strategy
KPI: Participate in 100% of strategic planning sessions for new country entries or high-risk initiatives with legal risk reviews submitted in advance.
Impact: Proactive legal input in growth decisions minimized risk at entry points.


D. Legal Capacity Building & Stakeholder Engagement

Legal Awareness & Training
KPI: Deliver bi-annual legal and compliance training workshops in all countries with at least 85% staff attendance and >75% score on post-training assessments.
Impact: Strengthened legal awareness reduced internal breaches.
Stakeholder Satisfaction
KPI: Achieve a minimum 85% satisfaction rating from senior leaders and business units in quarterly feedback surveys on legal support.
Impact: Reinforced trust in the legal function and improved internal alignment.















Requirements

Education & Qualifications:

Bachelor of Law (LLB) from a recognized institution; a Masters degree in Law or Business is an added advantage.
Admission to the Bar in at least one operating country; multi-jurisdictional qualification is a strong plus.


Experience:
Minimum of 810 years post-qualification experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven experience advising on employment law commercial contracts and regulatory compliance across Africa.
Strong background in managing legal matters within a service-based or outsourcing environment is highly desirable.
Experience working with external counsel and managing legal vendors.


Skills & Competencies:
Strong strategic thinking with a business-first legal mindset.
Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage cross-border legal issues.
High ethical standards sound judgment and attention to detail.
Strong leadership communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
