UX Engineer

Each year 2.5 trillion hours are spent on household chores. At Matic were on a mission to recapture that lost time and were doing it by revolutionizing home robotics.

Our first product also called Matic is a Wall-E-esque floor cleaning robot. Weve built what amounts to full self-driving in the home with real-time 3D mapping adaptive path-tracking and a precise semantic understanding of the home. Our breakthroughs in spatial AI allow Matic to work reliably in real homes using only RGB cameras and neural networks running on-device.

What happens in the home stays in the home. Our robots are private by design with all data processing performed by the robot itself not in the cloud.

Before the iPhone consumers adopted several distinct devices; cell phones PDAs and portable music players each served a particular need. We believe in a similar progression for home robotics starting with single-purpose robots and building iteratively toward more complex capabilities over time.

Were looking for a UX Engineer / Design Engineer to help build and refine Matics mobile app experience.

This role sits at the intersection of design and engineering. Youll work closely with product designers and engineers to turn thoughtful interaction concepts into polished production-ready UI.

The Matic app is where users interact with real-time autonomy from maps and cleaning controls to robot status and feature configuration. Your work will help make complex robotic intelligence feel intuitive trustworthy and beautifully executed.

This is an entry-to-mid-level role with strong growth potential for someone who cares about craft interaction quality and building products that live beyond the screen.

What Youll Do

• Build and ship high-quality UI in Matics mobile app

• Translate Figma designs and prototypes into production-ready components

• Implement smooth animations and thoughtful micro-interactions

• Help visualize complex robot behaviors (mapping obstacle detection cleaning states)

• Collaborate closely with product design to refine interaction details

• Partner with design software algorithms and hardware teams to ensure accurate real-time feedback

• Contribute to and help evolve a scalable design system in code

• Participate in feature planning and iteration discussions

What You Bring

• 14 years of experience in front-end or mobile development

• Experience building product-facing UI (mobile preferred)

• Familiarity with Rust and/or Python iOS and/or Android is required.

• Strong attention to detail in spacing hierarchy motion and interaction

• Comfort working in a fast-moving collaborative environment

• Curiosity about connected devices and how software interfaces with hardware

• Clear communication skills and a willingness to give and receive feedback

Compensation

Base $96000 $120000

Actual Compensation will depend on skills experience and qualifications. Base Salary is one part of the total compensation package. The role is also eligible for equity through the companys discretionary equity program along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical dental and vision coverage access to a 401(k) plan.
