Job Summary

Position Summary
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ( UNC ) offers an 18-month fellowship in comparative anatomic veterinary pathology made possible by a generous donation from Charles River Laboratories Inc ( CRL ). The position offers research and training opportunities that emphasize translational computational toxicologic and digital pathology as well as experience with advanced methodologies and related fields. At UNC the Fellow will participate in diagnostic necropsies support biomedical research and receive mentorship from 4 board-certified veterinary pathologists. Additionally practical toxicologic and digital pathology experience and mentorship through CRL provides the Fellow with skills essential for a successful modern career in veterinary pathology. Throughout the Fellowship individuals will have the opportunity to participate in research using digital pathology machine learning deep learning artificial intelligence and digital image analysis. Other training opportunities include clinical rounds and staff meetings Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee ( IACUC ) protocol and amendment review research and resident seminars an on-site clinical veterinary diagnostic laboratory pathology sample collection management seminars and courses offered by the Davis-Thompson Foundation and continuing education offered at national meetings ( AVMA ACVP STP and others).

Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
DVM / VMD from an AVMA -accredited or equivalent institution Completed at least 2 years of anatomic pathology residency training Eligible to take the American College of Veterinary Pathologys phase II examination

Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Background with experiences showing a genuine interest in pursuing a career in laboratory animal/comparative medicine and/or research.
