We are looking for a Senior Corporate Counsel to join our Legal Compliance and Risk Management team.

This role will provide expertise in Retail Real Estate and Commercial Law as well as other exciting subjects within the EMEA region!

Core Responsibilities

As part of the Legal Compliance and Risk Management department (LCR) you will provide legal services to the LEGO Group across the broader areas of Corporate and Commercial law especially related to the LEGO Retail strategic projects their real estate portfolio development LEGO branded venues and attractions in EMEA.

  • You will be providing legal advice as well as performing contract work and promoting the LEGO Group compliance agenda.
  • You will work directly with LEGO Retail and other business partners as well as internal some cases you will serve as the main point of contact for a task towards business partners and in others you will support colleagues within LCR or work as part of a team. You will be building strong and effective working relationships and networks with internal key internal collaborators within LCR and the business.

The core areas of focus will include:

  • Legal Support to LEGO Retail Real Estate and Lease Portfolio Development and Contracting: Wide array of smaller and extensive strategic projects related to the physical footprint of the company in EMEA and other LEGO Retail related transactional work. Advise and spar with the business in creation and implementation of location strategies.
  • General Legal Advice: Provide comprehensive legal guidance on a range of issues as they arise to ensure the companys activities are conducted within the bounds of applicable law.

Other areas covered in the team that might be relevant for this role from time to time: Commercial and Procurement Contracts within the Digital space and Consumer Digital advice on compliance with consumer protection advice on technology regulations such as AI and other topical digital matters.

The Senior Corporate Counsel position is part of the Legal Compliance and Risk Management department for Digital Ecommerce and Marketplaces team that supports our LEGO Retail business mainly in global online direct-to-consumer (D2C) operations digital organisation and online IP enforcement. This role focuses primarily but not exclusively on legal matters related to our LEGO branded venues and attractions and the related real estate portfolio development. The role involves frequent collaboration with other legal colleagues and regional teams.

Success in this role requires a strong interest curiosity and experience in the real estate laws lease and other venue related transactions preferably in multiple geographies within EMEA and providing legal support to the business in these areas. Interest and experience in legal support to D2C sector along with a keen curiosity about privacy marketing and consumer laws at EU level as well as an ability to think globally in terms of legal solutions applicable across markets are considered an advantage. The nature of operating attractions to consumers demands quick decision-making and rapid assessments so agility is important. Strong partnering skills are also essential as you will work directly with various business teams.

Do you have what it takes

Legal law school degree (at Master level e.g. Cand. Jur Cand. Merc. Jur J.D. LL.M. or equivalent) combined with;

  • Significant and broad experience with real estate laws and venue related contracting
  • Corporate and commercial law with experience within the area of retail consumer digital marketing and privacy laws preferably from working in legal department in a global company or in private practice (5-8 years)
  • Very experienced in drafting reviewing and negotiating contracts
  • Highly collaborative with a curious attitude and a can do approach
  • Ability to understand and learn the core business ambitions and strategies to be able to provide relevant legal advice and services
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Other languages are a plus
