Job Summary

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Performs routine preventative and predictive maintenance and repair procedures on company buildings mechanical equipment and utility systems as determined by their supervisor. Works in conjunction with other Maintenance Team Members to successfully resolve daily manufacturing issues. Maintenance Workers report to the Plant Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned)
- Performs minor and major repairs to the building and equipment
- Performs preventative maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis (inspects belts checks fluid levels greases bearings seals etc.)
- Repairs or replaces broken parts to ensure minimal unplanned downtime in assigned areas
- Calibrates and repairs pneumatic hydraulic servo-hydraulic and mechanical equipment as well as pumps transmissions conveyors packaging equipment etc.
- Completes daily weekly and monthly checklists
- Performs pipefitting work on systems according to good pipefitting practice
- Performs sheet metal and other shop fabrication work as required
- Performs millwright work as required
- Repairs refrigeration and heating equipment
- Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
- Troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs them efficiently with minimal supervision
- Performs other work including general housekeeping and shop cleaning as assigned by supervisor
- Completes all assigned work orders in an efficient manner
- Identifies PM requirements for assigned areas
- Arranges for parts to be ordered and on-hand as required with help from supervisor
- Identifies impending problems and advises supervision
- Installs and maintains electrical systems and components
- Performs effective electrical troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repairs or substitutes damaged units
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keeps work area clean and tidy free from trip hazards and other safety hazards
- Reports workplace hazards to their supervisor or JHSC member
- If certified operates cranes forklifts bobcats and scissor lifts safely in accordance with company policies
- Is familiar with all relevant workplace legislation
- Reports all accidents first aid incidents and near misses
ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability:
- Proven ability to read parts lists and shop drawings including hydraulic diagrams
- Demonstrated solid understanding of mechanisms and power transmission equipment
- Demonstrated understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ability to work on induction furnaces is an asset
- Ability to operate typical shop equipment such as pipe threader drill press bandsaw grinder air tools and other small shop tools as required
- Basic fabrication work skills
- Demonstrated ability to solder braze torch-cut arc weld and MIG weld
- Demonstrated knowledge of pipefitting including use in hydraulics and pneumatics
- Ability to make effective equipment modifications as required without supervision in order to return equipment to production status
- Experience in industrial electrical systems
- Thorough knowledge of electrical safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
EDUCATION
Graduate of a certified trade school program with at least five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing skilled maintenance.
Licensed Industrial Electrician.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions short correspondence and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close distance and depth perception
- Fine dexterity required

- Moving mechanical parts
- Wet and/or freezing conditions

- Fumes or airborne particles
- Outside weather conditions
- Risk of electrical shock
- Noise levels that are usually loud to occasionally quiet
- Flexible hours in a fast-paced team-oriented cold environment
- Risk of arc flash
- Confined spaces and dark areas

a) Be willing and able to attend technical courses as required in order to stay proficient at their duties
b) Must be willing to advise Plant Manager when skills are insufficient to complete job efficiently

Hourly rate- #35.00 depending on skill level
