Job Summary:

The Career Ambassador will facilitate resume and cover letter reviews and help students with Handshake and LinkedIn accounts under the training/guidance of Supervisor. The Career Ambassador will accomplish the following tasks during their time with the Advising and Career Center:


Resume and cover letter reviews: After a mandatory training and observation period CA-I will conduct resume and cover letter review on an appointment/walk-in basis. They will have appointment availability in Navigate and will need to track appointments for reporting.


Event assistance: Collaborate with the Advising and Career Center staff to plan organize and facilitate department events and programming. This may include a time commitment beyond typical office hours.


Handshake employer & job approvals: With training the CA will be responsible for approving new employers and jobs on Handshake.


Front Desk Staff: the CA will work mainly at the front desk and will greet students check them in for advising appointments answer the phone answer questions greet all other guests and maintain a friendly professional and organized atmosphere as the main entry point to the Advising & Career Center.


Give presentations: After being trained the CA may be able to give class presentations on career services and resources using a PowerPoint slide deck and also do promotional presentations and tabling on career events.


Professional development: Participate in mandatory training workshops to polish and add to current skill set.


Office tasks (general): Answer incoming phone calls and direct to appropriate staff create advising appointments and check students in for appointments prepare office mailings post flyers pick up deliveries from mail room and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Student must be enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside as an undergraduate or graduate student

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and office equipment
Ability to work and communicate with a diverse staff and student population
Must be willing to participate in SafeZone and FERPA training
Comfortable speaking in front of others
Must be in good academic standing

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Outstanding attention to detail
Must have the ability to work independently and as a team member
A strong customer service orientation ability to exercise good judgement
A professional demeanor
Dependable and punctual
