Job Summary
16 James Hematology Oncology -D/N or Nights - AYA OFFER (MED SURG UNIT) ONS CERTIFICATION REQUIRED Staffing ratios - goal is 1:4 but can be 1:5 Weekends - variable based on unit needs No set/blocked scheduling as that is not something we offer our permanent staff Self-schedule requests - you will enter your schedule requests so we can see your preferred schedule before balancing and posting the final schedule First week of orientation is Mon - Fri dayshift. Second week is 36hrs of on-unit orientation with a preceptor Floating to other Med/Surg and Oncology Units If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract you may be scheduled for days nights or a combination of both depending on the department s needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time. Patient Diagnoses Lymphoma Multiple Myeloma Acute leukemias Chronic Leukemias Sickle Cell Disease other non hem cancers Other benign hematology Special Procedures/Unit Details Chemotherapy Blood transfusions IV Antibiotics Oncologic emergencies: tumor lysis syndrome cytokine release syndrome Insulin drips Heparin drips Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls Certifications Required BLS ACLS ONS Skills Required MS/Tele Telemetry Interpretation of dysrhythmias Telemetry -on the unit monitoring Use of Rapid Response Teams Feeding tube care and management IV therapy/Phlebotomy Blood Product Administration Central line blood draw Peripheral Line Care/Management PICC line management Starting IVs COMPUTERIZED CHARTING EPIC
