Job Summary

Job Title: Internship Site Supervisor

Status: Full-Time Non-Exempt (40 hours/week)

Reports To: Volunteer Workforce Program Manager

Location: Portland OR (in-office required) after 6 months of employment and based on program needs this role may be able to accommodate 1 remote work day per week.

Schedule: MondayFriday 8:30 am 5:00 pm. May require evening hours one day a week based on programmatic needs. Will require occasional evening and weekend hours to attend program events and internship recruiting and outreach events.

Salary:The starting base rate for this role is $27 per hour plus a $2/hr. differential for employees who possess a Masters degree in a related field a 2% differential for employees who live and work from Oregon and a $1/hr. differential for hours worked in the office when regularly working in the office 3 days per week ($30.58 per hour with those differentials). Lines for Life is seeking an Internship Site Supervisor to guide and develop graduate and undergraduate interns within our Workforce Development Program. This role centers on clinical supervision professional growth and skill-building; supporting students as they translate classroom learning into real-world crisis intervention practice.

The Internship Site Supervisor leads a structured equitable internship experience for graduate and undergraduate students. This role provides weekly clinical supervision oversees intern onboarding and documentation conducts quality assurance and supports ongoing skill development in crisis intervention. You will be supporting interns in developing their crisis assessment and intervention skills as they support a variety of callers across several different crisis and support lines. The Supervisor partners closely with interns to strengthen clinical judgment ethical decision-making and crisis response skills. While this role includes in-office operational support during shifts its primary focus is mentorship supervision and professional development.

Internship Site Supervisor Responsibilities:

Clinical Supervision & Intern Development

  • Focus: Supporting intern growth and clinical skill-building
  • Provide weekly clinical supervision to graduate- and undergraduate-level interns
  • Conduct call monitoring and deliver structured strengths-based feedback
  • Support interns in applying crisis intervention models and ethical standards
  • Complete evaluations and ensure all academic and program requirements are met
  • Foster a supportive growth-oriented learning environment

Internship Program Operations

  • Focus: Managing the intern lifecycle and program logistics
  • Support intern recruitment screening and onboarding processes
  • Manage academic documentation and internship requirements
  • Support intern and volunteer training initiatives
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internship processes

Quality Assurance & Clinical Excellence

  • Focus: Ensuring high-quality care and adherence to standards
  • Provide real-time coaching and support during crisis contacts as needed
  • Promote accurate documentation and adherence to clinical best practices
  • Reinforce ethical standards and quality expectations across intern work

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Team Support

  • Focus: Integrating the role within the broader program
  • Partner with internal teams to identify meaningful internship projects
  • Support a positive and collaborative team culture within Workforce Development
  • Provide backup support for Workforce Development Supervisors as needed

Internship Site Supervisor Required Qualifications:

  • Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree completed at least two years prior to application date
  • Licensure preferred (LMSW LCSW or equivalent)
  • Minimum two years of client-facing experience (counseling crisis work hospital school case management etc.)
  • Experience providing supervision or on-the-job coaching
  • Strong knowledge of the Social Work Code of Ethics
  • Sound clinical judgment and crisis intervention skills
  • Experiencing providing services to people experiencing crisis
  • Cultural responsiveness and ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Strong written verbal and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with electronic records systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Able to commit to punctual and reliable attendance to shifts

Internship Site Supervisor Work Environment:

  • This position is based in our Portland office to allow for in-person intern and volunteer supervision and live coaching.
  • Work is primarily office-based and requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and the ability to work in high acuity crisis situations
  • After 6 months of employment and based on program needs this role may be able to accommodate 1 remote work day per week.

Compensation:This is a union position with a step progression based upon years of service at Lines for Life and below is the current step scale for the base rate and each step would have the $2 graduate degree differential 2% Oregon premium and $1 in-office differential added onto pay when applicable:

0-3 years: $27.00

3-5 years: $28.62

5-7 years: $30.34

7-10 years: $32.16

>10 years: $34.09
