Job Summary
The Opportunity
Marriott International is seeking a commercially astute and strategically minded General Manager to lead JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa.
This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a General Manager who can balance luxury guest experience operational excellence and strong commercial performance while working in close partnership with ownership to drive long-term asset value.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of revenue strategy market positioning and owner alignment alongside the ability to lead a complex resort operation in one of the worlds most competitive luxury destinations.
About the Property
JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa is a flagship luxury resort located on a private island in the Venetian lagoon. The property offers a unique positioning within the Venice market combining destination resort appeal with access to one of the worlds most iconic cities.
The hotel features:
- Extensive accommodation offering including suites and private residences
- Multiple food & beverage outlets with destination dining appeal
- Full-service spa and wellness facilities
- Significant outdoor space and seasonal demand dynamics
The property operates within a highly competitive luxury landscape requiring clear commercial differentiation strong revenue optimisation and strategic stakeholder alignment.
The Role
As General Manager you will hold full accountability for the performance and positioning of the property acting as the primary business leader for the asset.
You will lead all aspects of operations commercial strategy and stakeholder management with a particular focus on:
- Driving top-line revenue and GOP performance
- Enhancing the propertys market positioning within luxury Venice
- Building a strong engaged and high-performing leadership team
- Partnering closely with ownership to align on strategy and performance
Key Responsibilities Business & Commercial Leadership
- Drive overall revenue performance through strategic oversight of pricing segmentation and distribution
- Partner closely with Revenue Management and Sales to optimise demand across transient group and leisure segments
- Identify and unlock new revenue opportunities across rooms F&B spa and experiences
- Maintain strong market intelligence ensuring the property is competitively positioned within Venice and the broader luxury landscape
Operational Excellence
- Ensure consistent delivery of JW Marriott brand standards and luxury guest experience
- Lead a complex resort operation with a focus on quality detail and service excellence
- Drive guest satisfaction reputation and brand differentiation
People Leadership & Culture
- Build and develop a high-performing Executive Committee and leadership team
- Foster a culture of accountability ownership and continuous improvement
- Champion Marriotts leadership values and talent development approach
Owner & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a trusted partner to ownership (KSL) providing clear data-driven insights and recommendations
- Lead regular performance reviews aligning on strategy investment and priorities
- Navigate owner expectations with confidence balancing brand standards and commercial outcomes
Financial Performance
- Deliver strong GOP performance through disciplined cost control and revenue optimisation
- Lead budgeting forecasting and long-term financial planning
- Identify opportunities to enhance profitability and asset value
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a General Manager with a strong combination of commercial acumen operational credibility and stakeholder management capability.
Experience
- Proven experience as a General Manager within a luxury hotel or resort environment
- Strong commercial background with a clear track record of driving revenue and profitability
- Experience working closely with ownership groups or asset managers (experience with institutional owners such as KSL is highly advantageous)
- Experience in Italy or comparable European luxury markets preferred

- Commercially driven with the ability to translate strategy into measurable performance
