Job Summary
Music to My Ears (MTME) is a creative trauma-informed service supporting young people who are victims of serious violence and are being criminally exploited. The service uses music creative arts mentoring and outreach-based interventions to build trusted relationships and engage young people who may not respond to traditional talking approaches.
You will deliver interventions to children & young people (C&YP) to enable them to develop and build their resilience confidence healthy relationships and make positive decisions. Using the medium of creative arts you will aim to engage and start a dialogue where traditional talking interventions would not be appropriate.
The Trauma-Informed victim support practitioner will work directly with C&YP who are victim of serious youth violence. You will deliver one-to-one and group-based interventions using creative and relational approaches to reduce harm improve wellbeing and prevent escalation into further victimisation or offending.
As a young persons victim support practitioner your main duties will include:
- Undertaking one to one work with children and young people (C&YP) who have been identified as victims of serious youth violence. This includes informing a risk management plan identified/agreed with the lead professional for each C&YP and linking with other relevant partners/agencies.
- Deliver trauma-informed one-to-one interventions and mentoring.
- Use creative arts outdoor activities and engagement-focused approaches.
- Support emotional wellbeing resilience and stress management.
- Facilitate peer-led groups and restorative approaches where appropriate.
- Engage families and carers.
- Manage caseloads assessments and outcome tracking.
- Work closely with multi-agency partners.

Qualifications :
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent.
- Skills knowledge and experience relevant for the job.
- Desirable: relevant qualification in youth/community work social care health or education.
Additional Information :
Salary: up to 27000 ( dependent on knowledge skills and experience )
Hours of Work: Full time
Contract: 1 year fix-term
Flexibility: This is a outreach and engagement role within the Surrey community (main office is in Leatherhead)
*This role requires an up to date driving licence access to a vehicle MOT and business insurance.
*You may be required to work out of hours including evenings and weekends where necessary in addition to travel around Surrey on a daily basis and occasional travel around the UK.
*Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check required.
