Position Summary:
Work together with the dentist to meet the oral health needs of the patient. Provide a high level of patient
care and satisfaction while operating in a team-based environment. Handles a variety of clinical duties for
dental office operations. These duties range in complexity and skill and all aspects of the job require an
exceptional level of customer service skills and a strong commitment to working well with patients
doctors dental assistants and other dental office team members.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):
Provide oral hygiene dental treatment and oral hygiene care and education in accordance with
guidelines approved issued and regulated by the state in which they work.
Apply fluoride and protective sealants. Removal of calculus stain and plaque from above and
below the gum line.
Provide nutritional counseling and self-care programs to prevent disease.
Record and review patient medical histories.
Uphold office policy including HIPAA & OSHA.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Order and keep track of inventory as needed
Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a medical/clinical environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment
such as computers x-rays and phones.
This job operates in a well-lighted sterile environment. Employees must wear gloves masks protective
eye wear and clothing to protect themselves and their patients from infectious disease.
Physical Demands:
The employee frequently is required to talk and hear; stand and/or sit for long periods of time; walk; use
hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move
objects up to 25 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to blood and blood-borne
pathogens and/or physical risks which will require OSHA training.
