In our Respiratory Therapy department we are committed to transforming lives through personalized care cutting-edge techniques and a patient-centered approach. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the latest technology and resources to empower our technologists to provide the best care possible.

The Respiratory Therapy Unit consist of 29 employees that provide 24/7 coverage to a patient population that ranges from Adult Pediatric and Infant. The unit is home to a Level 3 Neonatal team. Shifts are generally 12 hours.

About the Job:

The Respiratory Care Supervisor is a clinical expert responsible for oversight of the respiratory care team ensuring smooth operations and the delivery of high-quality patient to care to all ages including the neonatal intensive care unit during their assigned shift. The Respiratory Care Supervisor functions as an integral member of the departments management team providing clinical leadership staff management consultation and collaboration with physicians nurses and other members of the healthcare team utilizing evidence best practice to guide respiratory care.

  • Assists in development revision and implementation of protocols clinical pathways policies and procedures including training and competence
  • Participates in providing education to other members of the healthcare team including but not limited to nursing and physician staff.
  • Effective team contributor. Collaborate with peers supports new ideas and offers solutions. Participate in staff meetings special projects teams outside courses cross training and committees. Supports organizational and departmental goals and strategic imperatives.
  • Participates in organizing and implementing skills days
  • Collaborates with the Respiratory Manager to use time and material resources effectively and contribute to expense reduction.
  • Maintains compliance with timekeeping and attendance.
  • Generates an accessible line of communication for the current shift. Establish monitors and adjust staffing patterns as necessary. Maintains equal and fair workload distribution and delegation.
  • Rounds through each area of the hospital monitoring patient conditions assuring appropriate operation of equipment and providing point of care education.
  • Is an expert resource on all respiratory care related equipment and modalities including high level advanced strategies and procedures. Point of contact for all departments regarding any respiratory-related patient care matters on any given shift.
  • Identifies and participates in quality improvement initiatives utilizing evidenced based practices that provide measurable outcomes.
  • Reinforces monitors and evaluates quality improvement/research initiatives to enhance delivery of care including but not limited to collecting data analyzing results and assuring staff compliance
  • Serves as the team leader during shifts when assigned to this role and acts as an administrative point of contact when no member of the management team is physically present on site.
  • Provides technical and clinical direction in all aspects of respiratory care including adult pediatric neonatal and emergency services. Assures appropriate performance of personnel and effective implementation of all respiratory care services according to EHS and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for monitoring appropriate documentation of the quality effectiveness and efficiency of patient care.
  • Assists in direct clinical orientation of new staff students and contracted staff in equipment needs assessments and evaluations. Identifies and resolves equipment/supply issues. Provides the leadership team with recommendations and/or action plans regarding staffing and workflow issues.
  • Performs all duties required of a registered respiratory therapist at EHS.
  • Performs all other related responsibilities assigned by the respiratory care leadership team.
  • Reinforces productivity expectations of the respiratory care leadership team.
    • Assures attendance at patient rounds by covering staff when practical and follows up with staff regarding updates in patient condition and plan.
    • Assures appropriate staff documentation and data collection of the quality effectiveness and efficiency expected of EHS patient care.
    • Assures appropriate and safe patient care according to departmental policies and procedures through quality control audits.
  • Provides the respiratory care leadership team with feedback on staff performance and recommendations.
  • Supports the departments Shared Governance structure (RTPC) and is accountable for quality improvement outcomes.

Who You Are:

  • Graduate of CoARC approved accredited school for Respiratory Therapy
  • Bachelors degree required or must be actively enrolled in a program within six (6) months of hire. Termination of a program without degree completion will remove eligibility for the role. Masters degree preferred.
  • State of New Hampshire Respiratory care practitioner license required at date of hire.
  • BLS certification is required within ninety (90) days from date of hire. ACLS and PALS required within six (6) months of hire
  • Registered Respiratory Therapy credentials required. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)-Completed within six (6) months of hire
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent clinical experience required. Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Expert clinical skills and knowledge to function independently in an advanced clinical role.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in a multidisciplinary environment and appropriate to the patient populations served.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word Excel Power Point and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability as an effective leader including effective communication education and mentorship
