Whatyoullbe doing
We areseekinga diligent and detail-oriented Component Engineer to join our Manufacturing Operations team in the this roleyoullwork closely with our Manufacturing Test Quality and Supply Chain teams to support both new product introduction and volume with internal stakeholderscomponentsuppliersand external contract manufacturers managingthe specification selection and sourcing of components required to manufacture our products to theappropriate performance reliabilityqualityand yield.
The Team
The role will be as part of the Manufacturing and Technology Process team atGraphcore. This team is part of the Operations group and has members in BristolCambridgeand Taiwan. The teamis responsible fordeveloping andmaintainingrobust manufacturing processes at the wafer foundry package assembly and PCBA subcontractors based in Taiwan.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support theselection evaluation and qualification of electronicand electro-mechanicalcomponents to meetagreeddesign and manufacturing requirements.
- Create andmaintainapprovedcomponentlists and Bills of Material (BoM) revisions using the Arena BoM management or other tools asrequired.
- Using published data ensurecomponentsandproductsmeetindustrycompliancerequirementsforquality emissionssafetyand the environment.
- Survey the market toidentifyor develop enablingcomponenttechnologies for next generation products.
- Assesscomponentsupply risks managecomponentobsolescence and propose alternative sourcing solutions to ensure continuity of supply.
- Occasional global travel to supplier sites may be required.
Candidate ProfileRequirements:
- In depth working knowledge of BOM management and sourcing systems such as Arena and Silicon Expert.
- Excellent electronics knowledge and familiarity with component parameters and datasheets.
- Good understanding of PCB manufacturing and SMT assembly processes.
- Ability to understand the interaction and dependencies between silicon package and PCB design.
- Experienced in working with leading edge suppliers inelectronicssupplychain preferablywith offshore contract manufacturers.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate effectively across global teams. Detail-oriented with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using data analysis and reporting tools (e.g. Excel Power BI) to support component and supply chain decisions.
- BEng/HND ElectronicEngineering or equivalent experience
