Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Supervisor: Executive Director for Special Services

FSLA: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

To provide occupational therapy services to students with disabilities who are eligible for the services.

Qualifications:

  1. State License (SC) and National Boards License (NBCOT)
  2. Prior experience in pediatric or school-based setting preferred

Essential Duties:

  • Consults with teachers other appropriate staff medical personnel and parents to assess students needs and to recommend materials equipment techniques accommodations and modifications for students who qualify
  • Conducts initial evaluations to determine need for services to meet special education/504 requirements
  • Develops Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives for occupational therapy to enable students to benefit from their educational programs
  • Attend IEP/504 committee meetings as needed
  • Progress monitor goals and objectives
  • Provide occupational therapy services to eligible students
  • Maintains daily log documentation of therapy for individual students
  • Submits Medicaid documentation for reimbursement
  • Participates in and maintains training required to conduct assistive technology evaluations
  • Serves as a member of the District assistive technology team and assists with scheduling evaluations consultation sessions and committee meetings to review evaluation results
  • Trains staff in appropriate use of techniques materials and equipment for individual students
  • Attends professionally related activities to maintain current knowledge in the field of occupational therapy and educational services
  • Supervises Occupational Therapy Assistant as required through licensing rules
  • Supervisor may assign other duties
