Job Description:

Assistant Associate Full Professor at the University of Florida. The Department of Medicine is seeking applications for a full-time faculty clinical investigator clinician-research track position for the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level. This position seeks an ABIM certified (or eligible) hematologist-oncologist with experience in hematologic malignancies and blood and marrow transplantation and an active interest in the development and conduct of clinical trials. This individual will have a primarily clinical assignment but will also be expected to develop conduct and participate in clinical trials and other collaborative research involving patients with hematologic malignancies blood and marrow transplantation and cellular immunotherapy. Our Hematologic Malignancy/BMT/Cell Therapy group is a charter Core Center of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network for 20 years has been FACT-accredited since 2000 is one of 12 centers in the LLS Beat AML consortium and has had consistent growth in patient volumes while achieving superior outcomes. Our group conducts a number of investigator-initiated clinical trials and first in human trials of BMT with dendritic cell vaccines manufactured in our Cancer Institute GMP facility.

The successful candidate will ideally have the training and some experience in developing investigator-initiated clinical trials and interacting with laboratory scientists for translational research. Resources provided are competitive salary protected time and the resources of the Cancer Instituteclinical research office which provides study coordinators regulatory support and biostatistical support. We have a culture that strongly supports conduct of clinical trials and we enter nearly 15% of all new patients to treatment interventional trials.

Faculty in the UF Division of Hematology and Oncology are members of the University of Florida Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI) the only NCI-designated Cancer Institute in North Central Florida. The UFHCI blends comprehensive patient care and innovative research in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment with members from 11 of the 16 colleges at the University of Florida (UF). Resources available for professional development at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center include leadership education and research training through support from the UF Health Cancer Institute Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI) formal mentorship programs and supported opportunities for teaching and research. Clinical research support is provided by the UF Health Cancer Institute Clinical Research Office. Requisite attributes include a commitment to service good verbal and written communication skills a strong sense of teamwork and a desire to train tomorrows doctors.
