Schedule: 40 hours / 52-Week Administrator

Salary: Commensurate with Administrative Agreement

Job Summary: The role of the director of secondary instructional services is to provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight for the districts secondary instructional programs.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Masters degree from an accredited university with major emphasis in curriculum and instruction
  • Valid Michigan administrative certificate
  • Minimum of five years classroom teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of successful school leadership experience

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Effective practices in curriculum instruction and assessment for all student populations
  • Principles and practices of administrative management including strategic planning budgeting and contract management.
  • Effective relationships and communication verbally and in writing with many different stakeholders (e.g. students families staff members and the broader community).
  • Foster and maintain equitable and inclusive learning and working environments.
  • Effective use of technology in the service of teaching and learning.
  • Proven history of leadership in the area of standards-based curriculum development and implementation.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the school improvement process and the School Improvement Framework.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of effective teaching practices.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead the design and evaluation of secondary curricula to ensure instructional alignment
  • Evaluate and recommend the addition or elimination of courses at the secondary level
  • Lead efforts to expand and enhance CTE programming across middle and high schools
  • Monitor student achievement engagement and behavioral data across secondary schools
  • Lead data analysis cycles to inform instructional and programmatic decisions
  • Ensure alignment of building-level work with district priorities
  • Support and strengthen K12 immersion program continuity at the secondary level
  • Consistent and reliable attendance
  • Support the development and implementation of sound assessment practices.
  • Serve as the district lead for the Reproductive Health/Sex Education Advisory Committee in accordance with Michigan Compiled Laws Section 380.1507 and related state guidance
  • Serve as a resource to and collaborate with school leaders in the implementation of standards-based curricula the Instructional Framework and effective assessment processes.
  • Provide leadership supervision and evaluation of instructional coaching program.
  • Identify develop and organize implementation processes for new curriculum and/or curriculum resources.
  • Promote the development of job-embedded professional learning opportunities for all staff including professional learning communities and learning labs.
  • Support the administration of state and district assessments and the use of assessment results to inform teaching and learning.
  • Identify trends and professional learning needs based on school achievement data across content areas.
  • Coordinate and provide oversight of Federal and State Consolidated grants.
  • Encourage the implementation of innovative programs proven to increase student and educator achievement.
  • Act as a liaison with other school districts universities and professional organizations to keep abreast of current educational developments.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as directed by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand walk sit use hands to finger handle or feel reach with hands and arms climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl talk hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and ability to adjust/focus. Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety well-being and work output of students.

Mental Functions:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to compare analyze communicate both orally and in writing copy coordinate instruct compute synthesize evaluate use interpersonal skills compile and negotiate.

In accordance with the Supervisor Agreement.
