The Director of Military & Veteran Services and Military-Connected Students serves as the colleges senior leader responsible for the strategy performance and outcomes of military-connected student enrollment and success including veterans active-duty service members National Guard and Reserve members spouses and dependents. The Director collaborates across Academic Affairs Enrollment Services Financial Aid Advising Institutional Research Workforce Development and Marketing and Communications to align strategy policy and resources for military-connected students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Strategic Leadership & Direction
- Provides strategic leadership for the colleges vision priorities andoutcomes related to military-connected students serving as the institutional authority and advisor on military-connected student success.
- Leads the design execution and continuous refinement of a comprehensive multi-year strategic framework for military-connected students that integrates Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) student success compliance and workforce alignment.
- Embeds SEM principles including market analysis recruitment pipelines yield strategies onboarding retention persistence completion and post-completion outcomes within broader institutional strategy rather than as a standalone function. Contributes to college-wide student success equity and enrollment initiatives with a military-connected student lens.
Operational Leadership
- Provides leadership and oversight for all military and veteran servicesincluding orientation advising coordination benefits certification support transition assistance academic and career navigation and referral to campus and community resources.
- Ensures programs and services are trauma-informed culturally responsive and aligned with best practices for serving military-connected learners. Develops and scales engagement opportunities that foster belonging connection and leadership development among military-connected students. Oversees the operation and strategic use of any designated veterans or military-connected student spaces.
- Leads and manages the Transfer Student Success team that specializes in student advising resource development and program implementation related to transfer as well as the Weiler Scholars specifically. Leads the operations of the Transfer Center.
- Ensures institutional compliance with all applicable federal state and VA education benefit regulations including GI Bill programs and state military education benefits. Monitors regulatory changes and assess institutional impacts; recommends policy process and system updates as needed.
- Provides leadership supervision coaching and professional development for staff supporting military-connected students. Develops and manages budgets grants and external funding related to military and veteran services. Identifies and pursues external funding opportunities partnerships and grants that advance military-connected student success.
Partnerships & Collaboration
- Partners with Marketing and Communications to develop targeted multi-channel outreach and recruitment strategies for military-connected students. Builds and maintains relationships with military installations National Guard and Reserve units veteran service organizations workforce partners and community-based agencies. Represents the college at military veteran and community events to promote educational pathways and services.
- Collaborates with Workforce Development and Academic Affairs to align military-connected student recruitment with high-demand career pathways and credit-for-prior-learning opportunities.
- Serves as a key partner to Financial Aid Enrollment Services and Records to ensure accurate timely and student-centered certification and reporting processes.
- Serves as the institutional advocate for military-connected students ensuring their needs are integrated into college-wide policies initiatives and technology implementations. Collaborates with advising counseling disability services basic needs support and academic units to coordinate holistic wraparound support.

Assessment Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Uses evidence-based practices and national benchmarks to inform program design and improvement.
Culture of Respect
- Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty staff students and members of the community.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education or a related field. Demonstrated experience serving military-connected students and working with VA or military education benefits.
State Motor Vehicle Operators License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
*An appropriate combination of education training coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.
